Microsoft has released a new tool that is similar (but hopefully better). It is a bit harder to use, but it does seem to retain more of the exif data that it shouldn't touch. It actually required me to do a .NET upgrade.

WWMX Location Stamper does not seem to be happy with any other version of .net; so you would have to down grade from 2, 3, or 3.5 to get it to be happy.

Many thanks for your article on 'How I use my GPS'. I took your advice and recently bought a Garmin eTrex Vista HCx to geo-tag my digital photos. Unfortunately, when I tried to install WWMX Location Stamper I was asked to install the .NET 1.1 library, but this is not compatible with Vista Home Premium used by my PC. Is there any similar program that will run under Vista?

Here is also a workflow to insert GPS data into Canon raw files:
http://www.oziphototool.com/smf/index.php?topic=124.0

I got the Wintec WBT-201 gps data logger, just playing around how to tag my files in batch mode.

Just a late note: You can use GPSphoto.pl for geotagging RAW-Files from Nikon (NEF) and Canon CR2 cameras.
This is a free Perl-Script, which work absolut great. Under Windows, you'll need a Perl interpreter like ActivePerl
You can find GPSphoto.pl here: http://www.carto.net/projects/photoTools/gpsPhoto/

[...] Some cameras have a gps device built in that add the geo location in the picture file itself. If not, here and here you can find how to use a normal gps device to tag your photos easily. [...]
